Seaside Endurance Event in Thanet

The 10Bay Challenge is a coastal running event held on the beaches of Thanet in Kent. Entering its fourth year in 2026, the event is designed to coincide with low tide, allowing participants to access sections of the coastline that are otherwise impassable at high tide. The course begins and ends at the Margate Main Sands and features two primary distance options:

  • 15 miles
  • 10 km (4Bay Challenge)

The route takes runners along the coast from Margate towards Ramsgate and back. The terrain consists of a varied mix of sand, promenade, and cliff tops. Participants pass through natural stacks, arches, and rockpools, with portions of the course requiring running on loose sand or ascending hills and steps.

The Event HQ is located on the Margate Main Sands and includes a dedicated area for relaxation. The location is situated near local landmarks such as Dreamland, the Turner Contemporary art gallery, and the Harbour Arm, as well as several seaside cafes and restaurants. The 10 km event is open to participants aged 15 and over, while the 15 mile distance is open to those aged 17 and over. Finisher rewards for the event typically include a medal and a t-shirt.
