Zach’s Heavenly Steps Trail Run
Zach’s Heavenly Steps is a charity trail event held from The Zach Willsher pub in Benfleet, Essex. Money raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. The course terrain is described as undulating through parks and woodland surrounding Benfleet and includes roads, tracks, footpaths and bridleways.
Participants choose between two route lengths and receive written narrative instructions. There is no mass start, no marked route and no marshals; runners follow the provided instructions and are timed out and back in. A designated start window is available and details are included with the instructions.
Practical details noted by the organiser include a water station at about six miles on the longer route only, a recommendation for footwear suitable for off road running, and a strict request that muddy trail shoes are not worn inside the venue. No dogs are permitted.
The event is held under UK Athletics rules and has a TRA permit number 8425. Age distance limits for young trail runners are specified: Under 12 up to 3 km, U14 up to 5 km, U16 up to 6 km, U17 up to 10 km, U18 up to 25 km, and U20 up to 40 km. All finishers receive a £3 voucher for use at The Zach Willsher.
