Yakima Skyline 50K : Ellensburg, WA
The Yakima Skyline 50K is a trail race held on April 17, 2027 near Ellensburg, Washington, on lands that were part of the ancestral home of the Yakama people and associated tribes and bands. The event covers 50K with approximately 9,200 ft of elevation gain and loss on an out and back route along the Yakima Skyline Rim Trail in the Yakima River Canyon.
The course is mostly single track with sections of rocky, technical trail and a few miles on a rocky jeep road. The route is exposed to the elements in a high desert rainshadow region and is often hot and dry though conditions can also be cold and windy. Participants should be aware that rattlesnakes may be present. The route is marked with yellow and black arrow signs and pink and black confidence ribbons about every half mile.
Aid is provided at three full stations and one minimal station with water, electrolyte drink options, some food items and basic first aid and menstrual hygiene supplies. There are cutoffs at aid stations and race staff track runners at each station. All runners must be able to carry at least 32 ounces of water on their person during the race. Crew access is restricted and drop bag service is available only at the Buffalo Aid Station.
The start and finish area is on private riverfront land where participants are offered free primitive tent and small RV camping with no hookups; potable water is not provided at the camping area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
