XTERRA World Championship in Ruidoso, NM
The XTERRA World Championship is a multiday off road triathlon and trail run event in Ruidoso, New Mexico, held October 8 to 11, 2026. The event is organized by XTERRA and brings together elite, age group, and youth divisions. Racing and festival activities take place around Grindstone Lake Park and Wingfield Park. The championship marks a 30 year milestone for the series and lists participation from more than 45 countries with an elite prize purse of US$100,000.
The main race formats and distances include:
- Full Distance Triathlon: 1.5K swim, 27K bike, 10K run
- Sprint Triathlon: 750M swim, 15K bike, 5K run
- Super Sprint Triathlon: 400M swim, 7K bike, 2K run
- Trail Run: 5K trail run
The event program also includes community rides and runs, practice sessions on the bike and run courses, an expo, athlete check in, bike mechanic services, and welcome and awards ceremonies. Course grading is given as easy, intermediate, and difficult for different segments. Parking, athlete parking, and shuttle services are provided between key venues.
