Woodpecker Six
Woodpecker Six is a six hour trail endurance run held on November 14, 2026 in Central City, IA, at Linn County Pinicon Ridge Park. The event uses a roughly 1.2 mile trail loop through the park's 966 acres of wooded terrain. Each loop includes two large climbs, multiple stair sections, and about 215 feet of elevation gain.
The course direction changes every two hours so runners experience the loop in both directions. The race includes an aid area with hearty hot foods and warm and cold beverages at the start and finish, and a long sleeve race shirt is provided. Special awards are planned for runners who complete 24 loops or more. Any additional funds from the event will be donated to Pinicon Ridge Park for trail improvements.
Woodpecker lodge offers heated indoor space for runner drop bags and outdoor space suitable for canopies and staging. The event policy specifies no pets or strollers. The race will proceed in rain or snow.
Entry information listed for the event shows a single price of USD 70.71 and a registration close date of Wednesday, November 11. The last date to guarantee a race shirt is listed as Sunday, October 25. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
