Winter Thaw Out Race Series
The Winter Thaw Out Race Series is a set of four 5 km trail races held at Elk Township Recreational Park in Glassboro, New Jersey. Each event takes place on Elephant Swamp Trail, a hard packed gravel trail that is free of roots and not technical. Per-race registration fee is $25.
Registration opened on 2026-09-26. Participants who register for all four races at once receive a $20 discount applied at checkout. Those who register for the full series by 2027-02-11 are guaranteed custom gloves. Registration deadlines vary by individual race.
Races are scored with a point system for overall and age group standings; for example, 10 points are awarded for first place, 9 points for second, and so on. Awards are presented at the end of the series rather than after each race. Everyone who participates in the series will receive a medal, and overall and age group winners will receive awards.
Hot chocolate is provided at every race. A race that had been scheduled for 2027-03-01 was postponed because of fallen trees on the course. The listed street address corresponds to the police station next to the park; Elk Township Recreational Park may not appear in some GPS systems and Aura Elementary School across the street can be used as an alternative reference. Events are produced by Even Kiel Racing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
