IQ FIBER Winter Beach Run 10 Mile & 5K
The Winter Beach Run in Jacksonville Beach stages running and walking events on firmly packed sand near low tide, with start and finish at the Seawalk Pavilion. The course is run out-and-back along the beach to take advantage of firmer sand conditions.
Distances
- 10 Mile (Jacksonville Grand Prix event for most age groups)
- 5K
The 5K and 10 Mile start together on the beach. The 5K turns at the 1.55 mile mark. The 10 Mile goes 2.5 miles out and back, then follows the same 5K out-and-back section. The finish is at the Seawalk Pavilion.
Race features include medals to all 10 Mile and 5K finishers, long-sleeve moisture wicking shirts for entrants, hot chocolate after the event, and overall and age-group awards. The 5K serves as the Grand Prix race for younger age groups (13 and under). Award categories include multiple standard age divisions.
The 10 Mile has a 2.5 hour time limit, which requires maintaining about a 15 minute per mile pace. Walkers are asked to line up at the back of the starting area to avoid blocking runners. Bikes and dogs are not allowed on the course; biking next to a runner may result in disqualification.
JTC Running and 1st Place Sports are listed as host organizations for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
