Windsor Castle 10-Hour
Windsor Castle 10-Hour is held at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, VA. The event uses a 5 km (3.1 mile) loop on varied terrain with approximately 138 feet of elevation gain per loop. The loop runs counterclockwise on forested rolling dirt paths, crosses wooden bridges, and includes exposed paved sections. The park is open to the public, so non race participants may be on the course.
Distances and event options include:
- 10 hour event
- 5 hour Half Windsor
- 2 hour Mini Windsor
- 5 km one lap race
This is a manually timed event with volunteers counting laps. Lap counters are stationed near the start finish; after each loop participants must call out their bib number, event, and lap total. Only full loops count for scoring. A separate manual finish recording will be used for the 5 km race.
Rucking is permitted in the 10 hour, 5 hour, and 2 hour events with required weights of 30 lbs for persons 150 lbs or more and 20 lbs for persons under 150 lbs; exceptions may be requested from the race director. Participants must carry personal hydration as the event is cup less. A full aid station and an additional water stop at Mile 2.2 provide food and fluids. No alcohol is allowed on site.
Teams of up to six members may form, and awards recognize top finishers and team mileage. Participants are encouraged to set up shade near the aid station and timing areas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
