Windsor Castle 10-Hour
The Windsor Castle 10 Hour is an endurance event held at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, VA. Participants run repeated loops of a measured 5 km course that uses forested dirt paths, wooden bridges, and paved park paths. Each loop has approximately 138 feet of elevation gain, mostly from short rolling hills. The course is open to the public, so non race participants may be encountered on the trail.
Event options include multiple timed formats:
- 10 hour continuous event
- 5 hour Half Windsor
- 2 hour Mini Windsor
- 5 km one lap race
Timing and lap counting are manual. Volunteers station lap counters near the start and finish area; after each loop runners report their bib number and lap total for official scoring. Only full loops count toward totals. A GPX file with aid station, water stop, and restroom locations is available.
Rucking is permitted in the 10, 5, and 2 hour events. Required ruck weights are 30 lb for participants 150 lb or more, and 20 lb for participants under 150 lb. Exceptions may be granted on request.
Aid is provided cup less; participants must carry personal hydration. A full aid station at the start area and an additional water stop at Mile 2.2 are available, with a variety of food options. Teams of up to six members can be formed and will be ranked by combined miles. Shade and tent setup are recommended for the open sunny setup area.
