Sandy Bottom 8-Hour Training Run : Hampton, VA
The Sandy Bottom Training Runs take place at Sandy Bottom Nature Park in Hampton, Virginia on January 9, 2027. The event offers looped running options on an approximately 5 km trail course that is described as very flat and well marked. The route uses portions of the Fallen Oak, Wetlands, Whispering Pines, Otey Shelton, Trillium, and Lake trails, with the start and finish located adjacent to the Lakeside Pavilion. The event is cupless, so participants are asked to bring their own hydration device. An aid station will provide water, sports drink, and food, with gluten free, vegan, and nondairy options noted. Custom long sleeve shirts are available as an add on, with orders after December 25 not guaranteed to arrive before race day.
Facilities include a heated restroom in the Nature Center, an additional set of bathrooms near the playground, and a large rented shelter with 15 picnic tables available on a first come basis. Small tents up to 10x10 canopies are permitted; tarps or similar ground coverings are not allowed. The park opens at sunrise for parking and setup.
