South Wales 200 – Wild Horse 200

The South Wales 200 is a 200 mile point to point trail race across South Wales, running from Chepstow to Worm's Head. The route follows sections of Offa’s Dyke, the Beacons Way, the Heart of Wales Line and the Wales Coast Path and includes approximately 30,000 feet of climbing. Terrain is listed as 80% trail and 20% road. Runners have a strict 120 hour time limit to complete the course and must reach the 100 mile marker before the clock reaches 55 hours.

The event uses checkpoints approximately every 25 miles and provides eight aid stations, including three sleep stations. Services at checkpoints include warm and cold food and drink, medical attention, and live tracking for each runner. Runners receive a tracker for online dot watching and a personalised drop bag system that delivers one drop bag to every checkpoint. Drop bag dimensions are limited to 45 cm x 75.5 cm x 45 cm (volume 132 litres); plastic boxes and suitcases are not permitted.

The organiser allows personal crews but running uncrewed is possible. Shops along the route may be used. Finishers receive a South Wales 200 belt buckle and medal, plus a Wild Horse 200 T shirt and a map print. Practical notes include a shuttle from Worm’s Head to Chepstow the day before the event and event parking arranged with the National Trust for a fee of £25 payable on the day. Entrants receive scheduled pre event emails and a reassurance call in the week before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
