South Wales 200 – Wild Horse 200 (14 to 19 April 2027)
The South Wales 200 is a point to point, 200 miles trail race across South Wales, starting in Chepstow and finishing at Worm's Head. The route follows parts of Offa's Dyke, traverses the Beacons Way, links to the Heart of Wales Line and finishes on the Wales Coast Path. The course includes approximately 30,000 ft of climbing and is listed as about 80% trail and 20% road.
Runners have a strict 120 hour time limit to complete the course and must pass the 100 mile marker before the clock reaches 55 hours. The longest recorded finish time on the course is 116 hours. Checkpoints are sited at roughly 25 mile intervals; there are eight aid stations in total, including three full sleep stations. Aid stations provide warm and cold food and drinks, medical attention, and basic support.
Each runner may have one drop bag that will travel to every checkpoint. Drop bag dimensions are 45 cm x 75.5 cm x 45 cm (volume 132 litres); plastic boxes or suitcases are not allowed. Runners may have their own crew or run un-crewed. A medical team and live tracking are provided; each runner will receive a tracker at the start.
A shuttle from the finish to the start is offered the day before the event. Parking at the National Trust car park is available for a £25 fee paid on the day. Entry is £549, payable via Let’s Do This. Finishers receive a belt buckle, a medal and a map print. The organiser issues a runner manual and scheduled pre-event communications.
