White Peak Festival of Running : Down in a Shot 10K
The Down in a Shot 10K is the 10 kilometre race within the White Peak Festival of Running. It follows the later stages of the marathon route from Harborough Rocks and finishes at Cromford Wharf, where toilets and refreshment facilities are available. The route runs over firm compacted limestone and cinder surfaces on former railway tracks and includes one canal towpath section. The course features an overall descent of about 800 feet with no steep uphill stretches.
Registration and race HQ are located near the canalside at Cromford Wharf, DE4 3RQ. Runners collect their bib at registration and must wear it on the front. If a t shirt was ordered it is collected at registration; a limited number of extra shirts are available for purchase on the day. There is no organised bag drop for the 10K, but runners may leave items inside The Gothic Warehouse at race HQ at their own risk.
Coaches transport runners to the start points; this transport is included in the entry fee. Medical cover is provided by a two crew medical response team with an ambulance available. Water and a packet of biscuits are provided to finishers. The event operates cut off arrangements and a tail runner to support safety on course.
