Whinlatter Forest Trail Runs : 2 May 2027
Whinlatter Forest Trail Runs take place in Whinlatter Forest in the Lake District on Sunday 2 May 2027. The event offers three trail distances and runs between the north side and the south side of Whinlatter Forest.
Event distances include:
- Half Marathon : 13.1 miles, significant elevation and scenic views
- 10 km : 6.2 miles, still challenging with varied terrain
- 5 km : 3.1 miles, undulating forest trails with views
The forest location provides panoramic views across Bassenthwaite Lake, Keswick, Skiddaw and Derwentwater. Trails are firm underfoot in places and include climbs and descents; some sections can be uneven. Routes are described as waymarked and arrowed.
The event is canicross friendly. One controlled dog per participant is permitted and dogs must remain on a lead at all times. Timing is by live chip timing supplied by Timing Up North, with real-time results and finish times reported.
All finishers receive a bespoke finisher’s medal, Wild Deer merchandise, a beer or soft drink and a snack. A custom event T-shirt is available for an additional £14. Subsidised on-site parking is available and parking fees are paid after the event at Forestry England pay machines. Entry fees are listed from £25 to £32 depending on distance and offer.
