Westcountry Ultra 100 Miler

The Westcountry Ultra is a 100 miles point-to-point race held Saturday 8th to Sunday 9th May 2027 in Somerset. The event lists elevation of 9,538 ft and an entry fee of £110. The cut-off time is 32 hours and there are 13 aid stations. This is a cupless event so competitors must carry at least one 500 ml water bottle and a cup for hot drinks.

The route combines the Flat 50 and Hilly 50 courses and uses canal and coastal paths, including the Taunton to Bridgwater canal path, the River Parrett Trail, the England Coast Path and the South-West Coast Path. The route passes varied features such as the UK’s smallest parish church, a nuclear power station, two areas of outstanding natural beauty, notable limestone formations, Somerset’s highest hill and coastal cliffs, and a designated dark skies reserve.

Safety and support arrangements include professional medics, volunteer-staffed aid stations and race tracking introduced in 2025. A GPX file is provided with race information. Overnight aid stations have previously offered hot food such as soup, roast potatoes and pizza; 2025 provisions are to be confirmed.

Logistics: the start is on Canal Road, Taunton TA1 1PN and the finish is West Somerset College, Minehead TA24 6AY. Coach transport from the finish to registration is available for £3. Pacers may join from the halfway point at West Somerset College. Small drop bags are allowed at the halfway aid station. Recommended kit includes a waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, headtorch with spare batteries, high-visibility clothing, whistle, compass, charged mobile phone or battery pack, emergency food, foil survival blanket and a basic first aid kit.

Course records are listed as male 18:23:40 (2019) and female 24:18:56 (2017). Awards include trophies for first male and first female finishers and medals for all finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
