West Virginia Trail Fest
West Virginia Trail Fest is an annual, family-oriented trail running event held every May in Snowshoe, Pocahontas County, West Virginia. Organized by Athletic Equation Trail Series, the weekend combines multiple trail races with community activities around Snowshoe Village and nearby state parks.
The event offers these race distances:
- 100K
- 50K
- 30K
- 5K
- 1M Kids Run
Course highlights and race features include significant elevation gain on several courses, climbs of historic fire towers in Pocahontas County, sections through multiple West Virginia state parks, views of the Green Bank Observatory, and summits of two of the state highest peaks. The 100K course lists about 11,500 feet of elevation gain and an overall cut-off of 20 hours. The 50K lists about 6,300 feet of elevation gain and a cut-off of 13 hours. The 30K lists about 3,800 feet of elevation gain and a cut-off of 11 hours. Several events start or finish in Snowshoe Village and some use the Cass Historic Railroad area.
Weekend programming includes a movie night, kids activities, a ride on the Cass Historic Railroad, a vendor and farmers market, live bands, an awards ceremony with a raffle, a sponsored shake-out run, and fireworks.
