Welsh 1000m Peaks Race

The Welsh 1000m Peaks Race is a long-standing mountain and fell race based in Eryri, North Wales. The event has run for over 50 years and follows a bee-line route from the coast through steep mountain cwms, over rocky summits and technical ridges to finish at the summit of Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon.

Both a long course and a short course are offered. The routes cross rough and rocky ground as well as grassy slopes and pitched stone paths, giving a mixture of runnable and technical terrain. The race finishes at 1085m above sea level.

A specified minimum race kit must be carried by competitors. Because the finish is at altitude, competitors must have adequate layers to protect against rapid cooling. Race day is busy, with the long and short courses running at similar times; published timings and logistics include bus transport for competitors.

The event information describes route, kit requirements, course types and logistics for race day. Organisers and several local partners and organisations are acknowledged on the event materials. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
