Water Gap 50k and Half
The Water Gap 50k and Half is a trail event organized by Happily Running in Milford, PA. Courses run on the McDade Trail beside the Delaware River, a rail-trail that extends 32 miles through the gap. The surface includes cinder rail-trail and some singletrack. The terrain is described as non-technical, rolling, and mainly flat.
Both distances start from Smithfield Beach and follow the same trail. The course is marked with pink survey flags; markings are sparser on open sections and denser at turns. A full pre-race briefing is provided on the morning of the event.
Distances
- 50K out and back on the McDade Trail with a designated turnaround
- 25K out and back using the same trail with a slightly long measured distance
There are three aid stations on course, and the event operates as a cupless course so runners must provide their own cup. Drop bags may be left at Bushkill Access and are collected in marked bins at Smithfield Beach before the 50K start. Drop bags are returned after the final runner clears Bushkill unless picked up post-race.
Post-race provisions include tacos, potatoes, and black bean salad. Results are typically posted by Sunday night. Entry fees range from 71.56 to 103.43 USD.
