Wasatch Trail Run Series – Alta (July 8 and August 5)
The Alta events are trail races held in Alta at the end of Little Cottonwood Canyon, with parking available at the Wildcat Base Area. Dogs are not allowed in the canyon.
Distances and elevation:
- Short Course: ~4.5 miles, 900 feet elevation gain
- Long Course: ~6.5 miles, 1,500 feet elevation gain
Both courses begin near the Goldminer's Daughter lodge and follow a dirt road past the Albion base onto the Albion Meadows Trail. Runners ascend steep sections, connect to the Home Run Trail, pass Alf’s restaurant, and run singletrack adjacent to the Supreme Lift before the course split. The short course enters the parking area, passes restroom access, descends onto singletrack, crosses the road and follows Catherine’s Pass Trail down steps to rejoin the Albion Basin Trail for the return to the finish. The long course climbs into Devil’s Castle, descends into the campground, follows a dirt road past restrooms, then joins Catherine’s Connect/Link onto Catherine’s Pass Trail before returning to Albion Basin Trail and retracing to the finish.
On-site amenities include Sergio’s Pizza and a shaved ice truck, post-race yoga by Ritual Yoga, and a community BBQ. Registration occurs at Alta Town Park. Participants are asked to bring a full hydration pack; water is provided only at the start and finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
