Waddington Fell Race
Waddington Fell Race is scheduled for 27 September 2026 and is organised by Bowland Fell Runners. The event is listed as category BM with the course given as 11.3km/7m and 415m/1,362ft of ascent. Entry on the day is £5.
Event headquarters is Waddington Village Club on Clitheroe Road, BB7 3HW. The club provides registration, toilet facilities and a place to leave bags at the competitor’s own risk. Parking in the village is limited; a small amount of free public parking is available on Twitter Lane and opposite the school on West Bradford Road, and organisers encourage considerate parking around Waddington.
The route is well marshalled and partially flagged. A checkpoint is located at the trig point on Waddington Fell (GR715475). The race start is at GR724437 with marshals directing runners from the village. There is a cut off at the track at the top of Summit House Farm (GR712465): runners must reach that point within 45 minutes, which is approximately 2.4 miles / 3.86 km and 750 ft / 228 m; anyone not reaching it in time will be asked to return to the village and hand in their number.
Minimum kit requirement is a waterproof top; full FRA kit may be required depending on weather and can include waterproof top and bottoms, hat, gloves, emergency food, whistle, map and compass. Mountain Rescue will be present and any surplus funds will be donated to them. Water is available at the finish; competitors are asked to bring a cup. Prizegiving takes place at the Village Club with awards for first male and female, age categories from U23 and M/F40 to M/F80, and teams of three.
