Event Overview
The Veterans Memorial 150 is a long-distance running event held over Memorial Weekend in Michigan. Participants travel across the state, starting from the beach at Lake Michigan in Ludington and finishing at Veterans Memorial Park in Bay City. The course consists of open roads and approximately 90 miles of rail trail.
This is a self-supported event that requires participants to have their own crew. While some volunteers may be present at trail intersections with water or snacks, runners are expected to rely on their personal support teams for aid. A breakfast is provided for participants at the Clare Trail Head, located at the 100-mile mark.
Distance Options
- 150 Miler: The primary distance spanning from Ludington to Bay City.
- 100 Miler: A distance option that concludes at the Clare aid station.
- Pacer: A free registration category for individuals supporting runners from the Baldwin Trail Head.
Course and Safety
The route uses public roads that remain open to traffic. For safety, participants are required to wear sufficient lighting, such as NoxGear or equivalent, during dark hours. Crews may meet runners at safe locations like parking lots or trailheads but are not permitted to follow participants at their moving pace in a vehicle.
Timing and Requirements
Participants have a total of 52 hours to complete the 150-mile course. There is a specific cutoff at the 100-mile mark, where runners must reach the Clare aid station within 32 hours to continue the event. Finishers are awarded a belt buckle, and a prize is also provided to registrants who do not finish the full distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
