About the race

The BMAI VANCOUVER RUNAHOLICS 8-Hour Relay is a team endurance event held at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, British Columbia on a standard 400 m athletics track. The event is organized around continuous team relay running over a fixed eight hour period.

Each team must register exactly eight runners. Runners take turns in a fixed running order and each runner completes exactly two legs of approximately 30 minutes. After all eight runners complete their first leg, the same order repeats for the second round. A ±3 minute margin is allowed to finish a lap before the exchange, and only completed laps are counted toward the team total.

The objective is to cover the greatest total distance within 8 hours; the team with the highest total distance wins. Teams must submit a fixed running order before the registration deadline.

Divisions are defined as follows: Open (15 years and older, no gender requirement), Mixed (four male and four female runners, 15 years and older), and Master (all runners 50 years old or above; standard team composition is four male and four female and distance adjustments may apply if gender balance differs).

Team fees are listed as Early Bird $399 (available until Aug 15) and Normal $499. Team registration collects the team name, division and a team captain; individual runners join using a provided team code and the captain can edit the running order and complete payment. Designated team areas are provided at the venue and awards are given to division champions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
