About the race
The Uwharrie 100 Mile and 100K Trail Run takes place October 17–18, 2026 in the Uwharrie National Forest near Troy, North Carolina. The event is offered in two race distances and is held on a looped trail course within national forest land under a Special Use Permit.
The course is a 20.5 mile figure 8 loop of technical singletrack with roots and rocks beneath a forest canopy. Runners in the different distances complete multiple loops of that circuit:
- 100 miles - five loops of the 20.5 mile figure 8
- 100K - three loops of the 20.5 mile figure 8
The field is limited to 150 total entrants across both races. Entry requirements include a qualifying prior 50 mile finish within the race's established time limit for 100 mile entrants; two specific exceptions are accepted as qualifying events. Both races observe a 36 hour cutoff. Runners who register by September 15 are guaranteed their shirt size; sizes requested after that date are not guaranteed.
The event has a written refund and deferment policy. Partial refunds (50%) are available through May 1, 2026; no full refunds or bib transfers are offered. Deferments may be considered through September 1, 2026 and, if granted, allow a single rollover to the following year. Special circumstances may receive full credit toward the 2027 race. Athletes under 18 must have parental consent on the entry platform and no athlete under 16 may participate. The event accepts an athlete's declared gender and addresses any challenges after the event in writing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
