About the race
The Uwharrie 100 Mile and 100K Trail Run takes place October 17-18, 2026 in the Uwharrie National Forest near Troy, NC, with the Wood Run Trailhead as the event location. The course is a 20.5 mile figure 8 loop on technical singletrack trails with roots and rocks beneath a forest canopy. The 100 mile field completes five loops and the 100K field completes three loops. The event limits total entries to 150 runners across both distances.
Because of the technical terrain, both races use a 36 hour cutoff. Entry rules require 100 mile entrants to have previously completed a 50 mile event within that race’s established time limit; as an exception, specific shorter events may serve as qualifying races. Runners under 18 must have parental consent recorded on the race registration system, and no athlete under 16 is allowed to participate in either race. Registration timing affects apparel: runners who register by September 15 are guaranteed their chosen shirt size. Refunds of 50 percent are available through May 1, 2026; no full refunds or bib transfers will be issued.
Deferments are considered through September 1, 2026 and, if granted, allow a single rollover to the following year. In certain unforeseen life circumstances, credit toward the 2027 race may be applied and will be reviewed individually. The event is conducted on Uwharrie National Forest under a Special Use Permit.
