Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB

Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB is a multi-day trail-running festival in Katoomba, New South Wales, set in the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains. The event is scheduled from 13 to 16 May 2027 and has developed over a 19-year history into a large, recurring trail-running gathering.

Races are held over several distances with substantial elevation gain and include:

  • 161.1 km with 7200 m+ elevation gain
  • 101 km with 4400 m+ elevation gain
  • 51 km with 2400 m+ elevation gain
  • 22 km with 1200 m+ elevation gain
  • 11.4 km with 731 m+ elevation gain
  • 1 km kids race with 25 m+ elevation gain

The course passes cliff tops, exposed rock formations, waterfalls and native bush, and is described as passing points of cultural significance. The event includes a traditional Welcome to Country on the start line and indigenous elements such as yidaki on parts of the course.

The festival also features an expo and community elements in town, bringing together runners, spectators and support crews over multiple days.
