Ultra England 50

The Ultra England 50 is a point-to-point 54-mile race from Keswick to Ulverston along the Cumbria Way, crossing the Lake District National Park. The organiser plans for the route to include Great Gable and Scafell Pike if final permissions and weather allow.

Key facts: the event has 250 places, a 20-hour overall cut-off, and an entry fee of £139. The race is included in GB Ultras 50 Mile SLAM and the 50 Mile Grand Slam (from 2027). Live online tracking is provided via GB Race Tracker and GPX files are available in high and low level versions; a low-level route may be used in severe weather.

The route uses several staffed checkpoints with refreshments and medical cover; hot food is available at Coniston. Some checkpoints are inaccessible to support crews and visitors, and the organiser enforces limits on supporter access at specific locations. Finish and start venues are Fitz Park, Keswick and Ford Park, Ulverston. Dropbags are available with size and weight limits; optional return coach transport to Keswick is offered for a fee.

Entry requirements include being at least 20 years old on race day, previous completion of an organised marathon-distance event, and mountain navigation experience. Mandatory kit is strictly enforced and includes a GPS device with the GPX routes, waterproof coat and trousers with sealed seams, two long-sleeve base layers, a midlayer, headtorch and backup light, whistle, survival/bivi bag, water container (min 1 litre), emergency food, fully charged mobile phone and the issued GPS tracker. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
