Twisted Roots
Twisted Roots is a trail running event organized by TYDISH Running, held at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood, Wisconsin. The event takes place on September 20, 2026, and features multiple distances through the diverse landscapes of the park. Participants travel across technical single-track trails and wide rolling prairie sections, with views of Lake Winnebago and the Niagara Escarpment.
The available distances include:
- Marathon (Full)
- Half Marathon
The course passes through natural landmarks such as the historical Lime Kiln Ruins and under majestic cliffs. The trails are shared with mountain bikers and horse riders, requiring runners to follow proper trail etiquette and yield accordingly. Time limits are set for both distances, with an 8-hour cutoff for the Marathon and a 5-hour cutoff for the Half Marathon.
The event base is located at the Gathering Space in the upper parking lot. This is a cupless event, meaning runners must provide their own hydration carriers or reusable cups for refills at the aid stations. Provided supplies include water, soda, electrolyte beverages, and standard running snacks. Following the race, a pasta buffet is available for participants.
Registration is open to entrants aged 16 years or older. Participants under 18 must have an additional waiver signed at check-in. The organizers maintain specific regulations for the event, which include no alcohol and a prohibition on cowbells by staff, crew, or spectators.
