Twisted Roots - Sherwood, WI
Twisted Roots is a trail running event on September 20, 2026, at High Cliff State Park near Sherwood, WI, organized by TYDISH Running. The event offers the following distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
Courses include technical singletrack sections, wide rolling prairie, and views of Lake Winnebago. Runners pass the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment and the historical Lime Kiln Ruins. Event operations are based at the Gathering Space in the park upper lot. There is ample parking and a main aid station at the Gathering Space, with at least one additional aid station planned along the route pending final DNR approval. Aid station provisions listed include water, soda, an electrolyte beverage, and running snacks. This is a cupless event; volunteers will assist with refilling reusable hydration carriers or cups that participants provide. A pasta buffet will be offered after each race.
Specific rules for TYDISH Running events apply: no alcohol, no disposable single-use cups, and no cowbells by crew, staff, or spectators. Entrants must be at least 16 years old; participants under 18 must complete an additional waiver at check in. Cutoff times are 8 hours for the full marathon and 5 hours for the half marathon.
The registration process includes an option to donate to the Friends of High Cliff State Park; a portion of event proceeds will support that nonprofit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
