Tunnel Hill 100 & 50 Mile Runs : Vienna, IL : November 14, 2026
Tunnel Hill is a multi-distance ultramarathon held on the Tunnel Hill State Trail in Vienna, Illinois, organized by Durbin Race Management. The event offers multiple certified distances on a crushed limestone rails-to-trail route that starts and finishes at Vienna City Park and uses out-and-back loops to create each distance.

Course and timing details: the 50 mile course runs south to the Wetlands Center then north to a northern turnaround and back to Vienna City Park; repeating the 50 mile loop yields the 100 mile. The 100 km includes an additional certified turnaround. The trail surface is smooth crushed limestone with a gentle grade. Runners pass through the tunnel multiple times: 100 km and 50 mile runners twice, 100 mile runners four times.
Time limits and rules: 100 mile, 100 km, and 50 mile competitors have a 30 hour finish limit; 100 mile runners must begin their second 50 in under 15 hours. The 50 mile event also serves as a USATF national championship; championship entrants must meet USATF eligibility requirements to receive awards and prize money.
Support and logistics: aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, food options, porta toilets, and limited cups; drop bag procedures are specified for key aid locations. Tent camping is available at Vienna Park; RV camping is not allowed at the park.
