Trails of Mena

Trails of Mena is a trail running event based at North Wingfield Community Resource Centre, Whiteleas Avenue, North Wingfield, S42 5PW. The route links several of Mena’s favourite local paths into an anti-clockwise circular course that mixes track, maintained trail, field and woodland sections with a number of ascents and descents. The course is lightly marked at major junctions and GPX files are provided for both races to assist navigation.

Distances include:

  • Trail marathon
  • 20 mile

The route follows the 5 Pits Trail through Pilsley and Tibshelf, then heads east toward Teversal and Rowthorne near Hardwick Hall, skirts surrounding woodland, crosses the M1, and returns via farmland and Sutton Springs Wood before rejoining the 5 Pits Trail to the finish. The event includes checkpoints on course; there are two on the 20 mile route and three on the marathon route. Checkpoints supply drinks and food, and some checkpoints may be water only. A seven hour time limit applies.

Race HQ offers free car parking on site and on adjoining estate roads. Registration is held at the community centre. Every finisher receives a medal, and there are prizes for first male and first female in each race. Medic cover is provided on the course and at race HQ. Dogs are not permitted under the current permit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
