TrailFest - Salcey Forest
TrailFest - Salcey Forest is a day of trail running held at Salcey Forest, NN7 2HX, United Kingdom. The event offers multiple distances so participants can choose an appropriate route within the same venue and format.
Distances include:
- 10K
- Half marathon
- Marathon
- 50K
The routes use similar sections of the forest and are mostly on crushed stone or well trodden open forest floor. There is no asphalt except for two road crossings on the longer courses. The course is fully marked, leaves the main visitor centre area, and is described as flowing well. Surface conditions can vary; wet weather may make the ground sticky and slippery.
The venue is a Forestry England site with a café and toilets. Parking is paid on site and was listed at between £3.80 and £9. The number 33 bus calls inside Salcey Forest and the site is near Junction 15 of the M1 and roughly 18 minutes from Northampton; the closest mainline station is Northampton. Dogs are not allowed at this event because canicross is restricted to October to March.
There are no mandatory kit checks, though participants are advised to carry bottles, a cup, a foil blanket and a mobile phone. The event operates cupless aid stations with no paper or plastic cups provided. Crew are permitted but pacers are not allowed to run alongside participants except in the final 100 metres. A large grass area near the event HQ can be used for a gazebo with prior notice.
Tiered entry fees apply with different prices for earlier and later entry, and unaffiliated entrants pay a small additional fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
