About the race
The Trail Trot will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Kinsmen Park in Sault Ste. Marie. The event offers multiple trail race distances with start and finish near the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club blue clubhouse.

Course notes describe each route: the 1 km uses a portion of the Kinsmen Lighted Trail, the 2 km follows the full Kinsmen Lighted Loop Trail, the 2.7 km replicates the elementary school cross country course for grades 7 and 8 and includes a paved hill, and the 5 km runs on the Crystal Creek Main Trail. Trail surfaces vary and may include roots, stumps, rocks, loose gravel, sand, and pavement. The 5 km crosses bridges and culverts and has multiple hills; bridges may be slippery.
Amenities include one water station mid-way through the 5 km course, post-race refreshments near the finish, porta potties by the clubhouse, an outhouse in the park, and a first aid station at the Soo Finnish clubhouse. Indoor washrooms in the Kinsmen Centre are not available.
Registration is online only and remains open until Sunday, September 27, 2026; the fee is $28.37 including insurance, tax, and processing fees. The event is a fundraiser for Soo Finnish Nordic youth programs. All runners receive a participation award; the first three finishers of each distance and the top youth in each distance will be recognized. Races will be manually timed.
