About the race

Two Turtle Doves is a Boxing Day fell race organised by Totley AC that uses public rights of way across Blacka Moor and Totley Moor. The course is 7.8 km with about 270 metres of ascent and is classified as a BS category race. The route includes a lap of a cricket pitch, road and lane sections, short steep climbs and descents, a river crossing via stepping stones, woodland tracks, a bridleway, pasture and a long flat section across Totley Moor before the final descent to the finish.

The 2024 change alters the finish to descend Strawberry Lee Lane followed by a loop of the field. The route is partially marked and flags must be followed at all times. Competitors must carry full FRA Best Practice kit for the time of year: waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. Mandatory kit inspections may be carried out before the start and on completion; failing to carry required kit can lead to disqualification and reporting to the FRA.

Race numbers must be clearly visible on the chest and may be recorded at checkpoints. Entry is available in advance via The Entry Point or on the day. The entry fee is £8. Facilities at the venue include toilets, showers, a pub and limited parking.

All race proceeds go to S6 foodbank and Edale Mountain Rescue. Awards include top three male and female certificates and age category prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
