The WILDness
The WILDness is a trail running event held at Panorama Mountain Resort in the Purcell Mountains on June 26 and 27, 2027. The event is offered as a one-day or two-day stage race and includes multiple course options and a 5 km Fun Run.
Distances and elevation options:
- Saturday long stage: 30 to 40 km, about 2200 to 2500 m elevation gain
- Sunday stage: 10 to 15 km, about 820 m elevation gain
- 5 km Fun Run: 5 km, about 115 m elevation gain
- Full race: combined two-day total
Course terrain includes mountaintop climbs, ridgelines, talus sections and pine forest trails. The Sunday stage includes a designated timed ascent section described as a race within the stage.
Aid and logistics: the Saturday course includes two aid stations, a medical station at Goldie Lake, and a water only station at Hopeful Cabin; the Sunday stage has a single aid station near the highest point. Aid stations will offer water, electrolyte drink, cola, salty and sweet snacks, limited gels or waffles. Participants must bring their own reusable cup as the event is cup free.
Mandatory gear is required before starting the Saturday long course and includes a pack or hip belt with at least 1 litre water carry, a hat, gloves, a jacket, an emergency blanket or biivy, and a reusable cup. Optional items listed by the organizer include bear spray and poles.
Categories and awards follow age and gender groups for the main stages with podiums for top three where minimum entry counts are met. The 5 km Fun Run is timed, has open gender categories, and includes a finisher item but no podium awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
