Gin & Chocolate Trail Races

The Gin & Chocolate Trail Races take place at Errwood Reservoir in the Peak District on 19th September 2026 and offer two measured trail distances. Routes run from the reservoir into higher ground around the Cat & Fiddle Inn and include access through the Inn to the Forest Distillery area.

The event includes:

  • 10 km 325 m elevation
  • 17 km 505 m elevation

Runners pass the Forest Distillery and gain VIP access to a supporters' area there. At the finish each runner receives a pre-mixed can from the Forest Distillery and a selection of luxury chocolates from the Hot Chocolaterie in Buxton. Routes are well sign-posted and marshalled, with professional timing and full race results on completion. Downloadable route maps, secure bag-drop and outdoor first aid qualified marshals are provided. Prizes are awarded to overall female and male winners and a V50+ category is included.

A portion of each entry fee supports local food and drink suppliers, community venues and trail repair and nature recovery projects in the Peak District through the event’s partnership with the Peak District Foundation. The race is licensed by the TRA and will be run under UK Athletics rules. Entrants must be aged 18 or over on 18th September 2026. A full mandatory kit list is required for safety, including waterproof jacket and trousers, suitable off-road shoes, spare layer, nutrition and emergency 500 calories, foil blanket, charged mobile, drinking water (minimum 500ml) and a GPS device or map and compass.
