The TFG Cheese & Crackers Trail
The event takes place in Hartington in the Peak District on 1 November 2026. It offers two waymarked trail race options that pass through tree-lined dales and past limestone cliffs, with downloadable GPX routes and full race results provided on completion.
Distances
- 8.4 km short course, 135 m elevation
- 16.4 km long course, 290 m elevation
Both courses combine technical trail and open countryside. The long course has a mandatory kit list that includes a waterproof jacket and trousers, suitable off-road shoes, hat or buff and gloves, a spare dry long-sleeve layer, sufficient nutrition plus an emergency 500 calories, a foil blanket or emergency shelter, a fully charged mobile phone in a waterproof case, at least 500 ml drinking water, a reusable cup or bottle, a whistle, and a GPS device with the route downloaded or a map and compass with the route marked. Short course runners must wear suitable off-road shoes and are strongly advised to carry appropriate kit for expected and potential weather.
Race services include professional timing, secure bag drop, outdoor first aid qualified marshals, prizes for male and female winners, and samples of more than ten local cheeses at the Hartington Village Hall race HQ. A complimentary goodie bag from Hartington Cheese Shop includes cheese, crackers and port. A portion of entry fees supports trail repair and nature recovery projects in Derbyshire and the Peak District. The event is TRA licensed and run under UK Athletics rules.
