The Sesquilizer in Columbia, SC
The Sesquilizer is an 8.67 mile race held in Columbia, South Carolina. The course includes roughly 700 feet of vertical gain; a Strava segment lists 800 feet but the measured value is closer to 700. Course files are available as a Strava segment and a Garmin activity.
The event uses an age and gender equalization format with 22 staggered start groups. Most groups begin at one minute intervals ahead of the final group. Runners who wish to run together must choose the later start slot of the pair. The event will be evaluated after each edition and start timing may be adjusted based on results.
Awards and participant items are planned without separate age or gender categories because of the equalized starts. Awards are expected for top overall finishers, and a raffle will be held after the race. Each starter receives a unisex t-shirt in sizes XS through XL; the shirt design has no logos on the back.
