The Rugged Red Trail Half Marathon
The Rugged Red Trail Half Marathon is a trail race at Natural Bridge Campground in Slade, Kentucky, run on a looping 13.1 Miles course on private property in the Red River Gorge. The in-person half marathon has a 5.5 hour time limit (25 minutes per mile); finishers who complete the course within the time limit receive a finisher's medal and a commemorative long-sleeved performance shirt. A virtual half marathon option lets participants complete 13.1 Miles on their own course and receive a mailed commemorative shirt and medal.
Awards are presented to the top three men and top three women overall and in 5-year age divisions (0-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+). The event is cup-less; participants are asked to bring a personal water bottle or hydration system. Organizers will provide water at the start area and at five locations along the route.
Event amenities listed for racers include free race photos, a DJ, complimentary hot and cold brew coffee, a complimentary beer for participants 21 and older, a BBQ lunch, post-race massages, a raffle, team pricing for groups of five or more, and on-site camping availability through the Natural Bridge Campground.
