About the race
The Ascent Red River Gorge 5K and 10K Trail Races are set for June 26, 2027 at the Natural Bridge Campground in Slade, Kentucky, on private property within Red River Gorge country. The event includes in person trail races plus a virtual runner and walker option.
Distances include:
- 5K 3.1 miles
- 10K 6.2 miles
- Virtual Runner or Walker run or walk a local trail
Both in person races have a four hour time limit and present awards to the top three male and top three female overall finishers. The minimum age for in person participation is 12 years. Entry fees listed for the in person races are $35 each and the virtual option lists a $50 fee. The virtual entry includes a commemorative T shirt and a finisher medal.
Race features listed by the organizer include commemorative poly cotton T shirts while supplies last, finishers medals, special pricing and a swag item for participants ages 12 to 18, free race photos, and food and music at the finish area. Packet pickup is offered at the Natural Bridge Campground pavilion with an additional last chance pickup on race morning. The event is cupless for 2027 so participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle or hydration system. Water will be available at the start area and at refill locations along the course.
