The Ridge Off Roader - Race information

The Ridge Off Roader is a mixed terrain, mainly off-road running event set in the Chiltern Hills. Running since 2013 and now in its 10th year, the event takes place in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and raises funds for the Bledlow Ridge School Association (Registered Charity No. 1027422). The event holds an England Athletics Licence number 28914.

The event includes the following races:

  • Half Marathon
  • 10 km
  • 1 km (KS1 and KS2 races)

Parking and arrival details note that car parking is provided on the day free of charge at a field on Chinnor Road, Bledlow Ridge, located between Chapel Lane and The Boot Pub (Postcode HP14 4AW). The field is about a ten minute walk from Race HQ and will be signposted and marshalled. Competitors are asked to use only the official car park, to park sensibly and to lock vehicles, as the organisers cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.

Registration: race numbers are not posted in advance and must be collected at Race HQ (Bledlow Ridge School) on the morning of the event; competitors should complete name, emergency contact and any allergies or medical conditions on the reverse of their number.

Course and event facilities: both the Half and 10k routes include narrow sections, kissing gates and uneven ground. There is a bag drop at the school but no changing or shower facilities; the bag area will not be locked and valuables should not be stored. Toilet facilities are limited and dogs are not allowed on the school grounds.

Aid and safety: there are four water stations on the Half Marathon (about every 5 km) and one on the 10k route, with additional water at the finish. Marshals provide first aid contact and course direction; competitors must obey marshals and signage. The race referee’s decision is final and failure to follow marshal instructions may lead to disqualification.

Walking policy: walking the 10k course is allowed, but marshals and signs will leave the course after event support ends; anyone expecting to take longer than 1 hour 45 minutes should carry a map. Walking the Half Marathon course is discouraged; marshals can assist runners who need help returning to the school.

Sponsors and volunteers support event operations, including marshalling and the water stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
