The Railway Ultra
The Railway Ultra is a multi-distance running event on the disused railway line along the banks of the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. The route runs beside the river and passes features of the area's industrial heritage.
Distances offered include:
- 9 miles
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
- 19 miles (3/4 Marathon)
- 28 miles
- 37 miles
Each out-and-back lap measures 9.4 miles. Aid stations are positioned approximately every 4.7 miles. The event uses a headquarters on the disused railway behind The Woodbridge Public House at TF8 7JF. Parking is available a short walk away at the Coalport China Museum and at Coalport YHA; charges apply.
The Railway Ultra returned in 2027 with a Winter event on 20 February 2027 and a Summer event on 31 July 2027. The event applies a seven hour cut off. Accommodation and hospitality close to the start include several pubs within about one mile and the Coalport YHA within one mile of the start area.
