THE PRIORY ULTRA - 100KM
The Priory Ultra is a 100km point-to-point event along the Northumberland coast, running from near Bamburgh Castle to Tynemouth Priory. The waymarked route passes coastal landmarks including Beadnell Harbour, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster Village and Warkworth Castle, and continues through Seaton Sluice, Whitley Bay and Cullercoats before finishing at Tynemouth Priory.
The event is fully supported with extensive medical cover, marshals at key points and six feed stations at Low Newton, Boulmer, Warkworth Beach, Druridge Bay, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea and Blyth. Feed stations provide VOOM Bars, VOOM Hydration, fruit, sweets, chocolate and savoury snacks. All runners are tracked throughout the route and can be dot watched by others.
Logistics note: the event is an A-B format. A shuttle bus can be booked from the finish to the start and a bag drop is available at registration with bags transported to the finish. There is a 24 hour cut off for completion. Mandatory kit requires runners to carry a backpack with water or fluids, a charged mobile phone with emergency contacts, food or gels, a headtorch if finishing after 9pm and a lightweight jacket.
All finishers receive a metal event medal, exclusive Priory merchandise and food and drinks. The event is organised by Wild Deer Events and the entry price listed is GBP 150. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
