The Maverick New Forest Gravel 2027

The Maverick New Forest Gravel takes place on Saturday 16 January 2027 at Holmsley Campsite in the New Forest, Burley, Hampshire (BH23 7EQ). The event offers three waymarked gravel and trail routes through ancient and young woodlands, evergreen stands and open forest trails where New Forest ponies and deer are often present.

The underfoot surface is predominantly gravel, smooth and flowing, but runners should expect wet sections, mud and short, sharp climbs. Organisers describe the courses as fast, flat and untechnical while noting there are still a few surprises on the trails.

Available routes:

  • Half Marathon: 22 km, +172 m
  • Middle: 12 km, +111 m
  • Short: 6 km, +31 m

Facilities and services include free parking, a fully marked and timed course, precision fuel and hydration outposts (no outpost on the Short route), online results, event photography, food and drink, a bag drop and a metal finishers medal. Non alcoholic beer will be available. The event is dog friendly but has a limited number of dog spaces and requires dogs to be added to entries.

Organisers request runners aim to complete their route within approximately 4 hours to ease pressure on marshals. Outposts are cup free so participants should bring a bottle or reusable cup. Recommended items include a phone, trail shoes, raincoat and a water bottle or running pack. Transfers are possible via the event entry platform subject to availability. There is limited capacity for entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
