The Maverick New Forest Gravel
The Maverick New Forest Gravel takes place on Saturday 16 January 2027 at Holmsley Campsite in the New Forest National Park, Burley, Hampshire (BH23 7EQ). The event uses forest and gravel trails set among ancient and young woodland, evergreens and open forest areas where New Forest ponies and deer may be encountered.
Three measured routes are available:
- Half Marathon: 22 km (elevation +172 m)
- Middle: 12 km (elevation +115 m)
- Short: 6 km (elevation +31 m)
The trails are described as smooth, flowing and predominantly gravel underfoot, with occasional wet sections, mud and short, sharp climbs. The course is fully marked and the event is fully timed with online results. Fuel and hydration outposts provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks on the longer routes; there is no outpost on the Short route. Organisers aim to keep outposts cup free, so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle.
The event includes free parking, event photography, a bag drop area, food and drink availability and a metal finishers medal. Organisers recommend not wearing headphones and ask runners to be considerate on course, follow signage and close gates. All runners should aim to finish within four hours.
