The Maverick New Forest Gravel 2027
The event takes place on Saturday 16 January 2027 at Holmsley Campsite in the New Forest National Park. Dog entries have sold out. Three waymarked routes run through ancient woodland, open forest trails and evergreen planting, with wildlife such as New Forest ponies and deer commonly present.
The ground is predominantly gravel and generally smooth, but the course includes wet sections, mud and short, sharp climbs. Distances and elevation gains are provided for route choice and planning.
- Half Marathon : 22 km (elevation +172 m)
- Middle : 12 km (elevation +111 m)
- Short : 6 km (elevation +31 m)
Outposts on the longer routes provide a range of sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks; there is no outpost on the Short route. The event is fully marked and fully timed, with online results, event photography, a bag drop area and a metal finisher medal. Free parking is available at the venue.
Organisers aim to keep outposts cup-free to reduce plastic; participants should bring a cup or refillable bottle. Headphone use is discouraged but tolerated with caution. Organisers ask that participants be considerate on course, follow signage and marshals, close gates and avoid litter. Runners are asked to finish by 2pm, which equates to about four hours.
