The Maverick East Sussex Trail
The Maverick East Sussex Trail takes place on Saturday 3 April 2027 at Stanmer Park, Brighton, East Sussex (BN1 9RH). The routes use sections of the South Downs Way and include open downland, rolling ridgelines, woodland tracks and farmland.
The course rises towards Ditchling Beacon, described as the third-highest point in the South Downs National Park. Underfoot the surface is mainly hard-packed and chalky in places, with varied terrain requiring attention on descents and on twisting woodland paths.
Available route options:
- Half Marathon: 21 km, +457 m elevation
- Middle: 13 km, +339 m elevation
- Short: 5 km, +147 m elevation
Event facilities include fully marked routes, precision fuel and hydration outposts offering sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks, full timing with online results, event photography, a bag drop area and a metal finisher medal. Non alcoholic beer and food and drink are available. The event is dog friendly; a dog must be added to the entry and spaces are limited.
Logistics notes: pay and display parking is available at the University of Brighton (Falmer), about a 15 minute walk to the event area. Falmer station is the nearest rail link, about a 5 to 10 minute walk. Online entry closes on 31 March 2027. The outposts aim to be cup free and participants are asked to bring a reusable bottle or cup. The organiser recommends not wearing headphones while on course.
