The Line 300 : Winter edition
The Line 300 is an unsupported long-distance challenge based on the Greenwich Meridian Trail. The winter edition follows the full route from Sand Le Mere in the north to Peacehaven on the south coast, covering around 300 miles to be completed within six days (144 hours). Competitors must be self sufficient on route, carry all required kit, and expect to sleep rough.
Entry for the winter edition requires a higher qualification distance; only applicants with a 150 mile or greater qualifier are accepted. Organisers may reject and refund entries if a competitor is judged unsuitable. The winter version requires mandatory cold-weather kit (examples provided include quality waterproofs, a winter bivi bag, down jacket, gloves, hat, spare clothes in a drybag, and a spare phone) and a signed waiver confirming an external support person can extract the competitor within about an hour if needed. Organisers state they will not provide ongoing monitoring or rescue and recommend personal insurance.
There is no external assistance or crew allowed on route. Competitors may use shops and cafes but must not use hotels, BnBs, enter vehicles, or receive outside help. Navigation must follow the provided GPX and competitors must complete the route on foot; deviation from the GPX may lead to disqualification. The event includes six days use of a Track Trail tracker and map, a GPX file, a finisher T-shirt, a bespoke medal, and a mug for completing both summer and winter editions. The winter entry fee is £234. Past editions show some finishers in 2023, no finishers in 2024, and a single winter finisher in 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
