The Last Duel Trail Race
The Last Duel Trail Race takes place on 23 August 2026 in Cardenden Woods and marks the 200th anniversary of the last pistol duel in Scotland; the course passes the historic spot.
The route is approximately 5.7 miles. It starts and finishes at the playpark next to Cardenden Primary School and follows a gravel path and farm track into Cardenden Woods. Runners encounter woodland trails, a short section under a dual carriageway, a small timber bridge and quickly changing terrain that can be muddy, rocky or rooted. Trail shoes are recommended because much of the course is off road and very off road in places.
Registration is at the Corrie Centre on the morning of the event; race numbers and a goodie bag (including a medal) must be collected on race morning and will not be posted. Entries close at 11pm on 9 August 2026 and there will be no entries on the day. The standard entry fee is £17 with a £3 discount for Scottish Athletics members; an earlier discounted price applies until 9 August.
There is limited parking at the Corrie Centre and parking at Cardenden Primary School is advised. There are no changing facilities. Refreshments and prize-giving take place at the Corrie Centre after the race. Minimum age is 16 years. Entries are non-refundable; entries will be carried forward if the event is rescheduled.
