The Kymin : 17 January 2027
The Kymin is a winter fell race held on 17 January 2027 at Monmouth School Sports Club, Hadnock Road, Monmouth NP25 3NG. It is part of the South Wales Winter Hill Series.
The course distance is 6.3 km (3.9 mi) with approximately 350 m of ascent. The route lies mainly in lowland areas and rarely rises above 300 m. Terrain includes some moderately challenging sections such as tracks and fell paths; underfoot can be rough with stones and roots hidden by leaves.
Safety notes indicate that one field descent can be particularly slippery in wet weather and that parts of the route run on open roads where cars may be present. The course is described as partially marked and navigation skills are not required. There are many options to retire to roads and several escape routes are available for retiring runners.
Entry information lists a pre entry fee of £9 via Fabian4, with a possible additional fee of £10 on the day; refreshments at the Mayhill Hotel are mentioned.
