MCW The Holmdel Classic
The Holmdel Classic is a trail running event held in Holmdel Park, located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The race is organized by MCW Ultras and serves as a fundraiser for MissionCleanWater, a nonprofit organization focused on clean water systems. The event takes place on a course composed of 95% trail and double track terrain, featuring grass, dirt, rocks, roots, gravel, and pavement.
Participants navigate a 4.65-mile (approx. 7.5 km) loop that includes rolling trails and open fields. The course begins with a 0.25-mile uphill climb and features multiple ascents and descents, including a steep incline to exit a section known as "The Bowl." The route is marked with lawn signs, pink flagging tape, and signs on cones.
Available distances include:
- 50 kmish: Participants complete 7 loops with a strict 8-hour cutoff.
- Halfish: Participants complete 3 loops; this distance is open to hikers.
- 1 lap: A single loop covering 4.5 miles.
The race provides an aid station at the start and finish line offering drinks, snacks, and hydration, though prepared hot food is not provided. There are no additional aid stations along the course. Runners may bring their own supplies and are permitted to have spectators, but pacers are not allowed on the course. Timing is recorded via an RFID system for each completed lap.
