The Frostbite Solstice Trail Race 2026
This trail race takes place at Marydale Park in Mount Hope, Ontario. The course uses an approximately 3.7 km loop composed of tree‑covered trails and open field. Runners will encounter a couple of short rolling hills and often wind at this location. The exact lap layout may change before race day to use trails in the best condition and to avoid soggy sections.
Race formats include:
- Full Solstice, 8 hours 58 minutes
- Half Solstice, 4 hours 29 minutes
- Quarter Solstice, 2 hours 15 minutes
- Full Solstice Relay, 8 hours 58 minutes
Relay teams may include up to five runners. Each runner on a relay team must run the full loop and all exchanges must occur in the designated relay transition area. If a team member leaves early they cannot be replaced by a new person. Team members receive a shirt and a finishing medal. Only the top team in each category (All Men, All Women, Mixed) receives an award.
There will be a single aid station on course offering water, an electrolyte drink, hot drinks, soup, sweet and salty snacks, PB and J sandwiches, pickles and similar items. Events are cupless; participants must bring a collapsible cup or bottle. All participants receive a finisher’s medal and a crewneck sweatshirt. Gels in race kits and at aid stations are provided by a local nutrition company and contain maple syrup, tahini, sea salt and rowanberry extract. The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and benefits the charity Hamilton Out Of The Cold. The organizer offers 100% race credit for cancellations made more than 30 days before the event and allows bib transfers; cancellations within 30 days are not accommodated.
