The event uses a looped course of 2.9 miles that combines wide and single-track trails through fields and woods, includes two wooden bridge crossings, and offers scenic views of Panther Creek. The start and finish are at the soccer fields, which serve as Base Camp for athletes, vendors, family, and friends.

The course is marked with flags and tape at major trail crossings. The event is cup free; participants are responsible for their own hydration. Runners must wear their race bib on the front to receive lap credit. Pacing and crewing are permitted. Relay teams may choose their own handoff strategy and do not have to hand off every lap; a baton may be used in 2026.
The event includes one aid station at Base Camp stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, gel chews, fruit, snacks, and first aid, plus meals such as pizza and other cooked foods at set times. Primitive camping on the soccer fields is included with registration for the event weekend; RV sites and cabins are available through the state park campground.
The Dirt Circuit is a Cherokee Ultra qualifier for distances of 50k or greater. A ruck division specifies dry weight requirements and equipment rules, and ruck finishers receive a patch. Awards and apparel are provided for participants registered within the stated swag cutoff. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
