Panther Creek Challenge
Panther Creek Challenge is a trail race event held at Panther Creek State Park in Morristown, Tennessee, with starts and finishes at the Smallman pavilion (the overlook) near US Highway 11E North. The event offers multiple distances:
- Half marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K
- Kids Trail Mile (1 mile)
The courses begin at the overlook, descend a steep single track, and continue through a series of winding loops in the woods and along the lake. Aid and water stations are provided, but only very small cups will be available; runners are urged to carry their own water. The organizers recommend offroad training and advise those sensitive to insect stings or bites to carry their own medication.
Event policies restrict use of headsets, earphones, bicycles, baby strollers, roller blades and pets on course. Runners under 12 must be accompanied by an adult to enter the adult races. An 18:00 per mile minimum pace will be enforced and sweepers will be used to manage course safety. Bibs must be worn by actual participants and runners who withdraw should notify race officials.
Registration is nonrefundable and bib transfers are not allowed; a Knoxville Track Club member discount applies. Series bundle options include a 7 for $109 Season Pass and a Kids 7 for $29 Kids Pass, expiring June 1. Limited edition series T shirts are printed one per runner per season. Grand Prix points and series awards are offered; series award eligibility requires KTC membership and at least two volunteer shifts. Results are posted online.
