About the race
The ColyTEN is a scenic multi terrain 10 mile race that starts and finishes in Colyton, with most of the route off road. The course runs beside the river Coly, includes a steep ascent through Ox Woods, and follows undulating woodland trails at Morganshayes before descending back into Colyton and finishing with a lap of the playing field.
Approximately 80% of the route is off road. After early riverbank footpaths there is a short road section and a river crossing, then the steep climb through Ox Woods. The Morganhayes section contains undulating woodland paths with a few steep climbs and a brief road link. The final section is largely downhill or flat, including about one mile on road.
Race headquarters are at the Peace Memorial Playing Fields / Colyton Football Club. On site toilet facilities are available and there is limited parking on site, in Colyton town centre and in a field opposite Shiphay Farm (around a 10 minute walk from race HQ). Numbers should be pinned to the front of the vest with personal details completed on the reverse.
Additional event details: no headphones allowed on the run; two cupless water stations at about 2.5 and 7.5 miles; a 3 hour cut off; finishers receive a medal and a drink and flapjack. Prizes are awarded for top finishers in overall and age categories. A donation will be made to Devon Air Ambulance. Organised by Axe Valley Runners in association with Colyton Football Club.
