The Chanctonbury Chase
The Chanctonbury Chase is a trail running event held at Wiston Estate in the South Downs National Park. The race is built around a fully marked scenic 10K loop that combines climbs, descents, woodland tracks, estate roads and views of the South Downs.
Runners choose one of four distances, all using the same loop structure:
- 10K - One loop
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- 100K
The looped format means participants pass the spectator-friendly Event Village regularly. The event includes marshals and chip timing with live results, a finisher's medal, and well-stocked aid stations located every 10K loop supplying water, energy drinks, gels, fruit and sweet snacks. Medical cover is provided throughout the event and there are toilets, free baggage drop and shower facilities at the Event Village. Food and coffee vendors, race photography and free parking subject to availability are also listed as included services.
The event is presented as suitable for a range of runners. The setting and looped course create repeated access to support and facilities as runners complete additional laps. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
