Bull Mountain Epic
Bull Mountain Epic is a trail running event at the Jake and Bull Mountain Trail Systems near Dahlonega, GA, set for October 2, 2027. The event offers two distance options and uses the main Bull Mountain parking lot as the start and finish area; GPS coordinates for the parking lot are provided.
Three different 10 to 13 mile loops originate from the parking lot and are run clockwise. Trails are mostly runnable single track with some technical sections. Course features include waterfalls, multiple stream crossings, rocky climbs and fast descents. The 50K completes all loops once and records about 5,000 feet of elevation gain. After each roughly 10 mile loop runners pass through the main aid station at the Start/Finish.
Aid stations are distributed around the course and are described as vegetarian friendly with soups, fruits, hot items at night and standard aid station fare. Located aid points for the half marathon are at about mile 9 and at 13.1. The 50K has multiple aid stations at approximate miles 7.5, 11, 20, 22, 25.5 and 33. Both events have an overall 12 hour cut-off.
Rules require staying on the marked course, no littering, no cutting switchbacks, checking in at each aid station and receiving aid only at designated stations. Pacers are not permitted and trekking poles are allowed. Awards go to the top three female and male finishers in each event.
